Paris bound

Instead of playing with a screwed up itinerary, I just decided that a 3 day weekend in Paris would be the best thing to do. Leave on Oct 28, back on Nov 1, so that gives me 75 hours or so on the ground realistically, which is fine. I’ll be able to be an idiot and perhaps try walking up to the top of Tour Eiffel. Been waitlisted for upgrades to Business (use them or lose them). Then I leave Nov 4 for London and am back on the 7th. Not bad – 16212 miles in 10 days. Then comes Japan.

I suppose at some point I need to get a hotel for London and Paris, but eeeh, I’ll worry about it later.

If I had a spare $3 million…

I would probably not buy an AAirpass. Although, unlimited first class flights for the rest of my/AA’s life would be pretty sweet.

Things that may only interest me

I managed to talk my boss into letting me have Oct 29th and Nov 1st off. Naturally, I haven’t been at home for Halloween in quite some time, I’m anxious to take another 3 day European weekend. What can I say – $500 is buring a hole in my pocket.

The initial thought was to go to Zurich and register my damn phone card with the authorities and pick up and eat a bunch of candy crack,

Luxemburgerli at $35/lb. However, I’ve been coming up with crazy routes using the ITA Software booking engine and have been unable to get them on AA’s website because they’re not “preferred.” I can’t say I blame them because I’m the statistical outlier who has no problem in taking an indirect route (especially when you get unlimited domestic first class upgrades). However, I’m starting to wonder the wisdom of my idea, mainly because if I book a European trip on that weekend, I will be crossing ~33k miles flown in less than 3 weeks. I don’t care who you are, but that’s pushing serious fatigue and what flight attendants normally work on serious long hauls.

I got an Email back from AA.com web services explaining the error of my ways and I’ll try them out shortly. If not, then no big deal. I could always “suffer” a weekend in Paris.

The Damn Swiss

So the Swiss Parliament said that you need to register (show up, complete some paperwork, and show your ID) all prepaid SIM cards by October 31st (realistically, October 30th). That means I’ll either have to piss away 70CHF on my card in order to keep the number OR just let it go and waste the balance.

But the opportunist says that I need 10k miles, and could put together a trip. I need a mile run to be honest, and I’ve got a 3 day weekend routed out (Rome, Zurich, Brussels) with about 24 hours in each. I don’t know though. The optimist in me wants to take Philly Girl to Paris for her birthday in December, but I’m doubtful of that. So, perhaps two more days off of from the office (the only good part is that I have a cool boss that lets me do these things, but also understands that I’m available more than most) and I can have one last hurrah for the year. Who knows.

Canada

So it looks like my CANPASS Air got approved because they left me a VM at work wanting to schedule an interview at Pearson. I was going to go next weekend but a friend wasn’t able to go because of family concerns. Hurray! New toy!

September 2004′s miles

That’s not bad. A month of traveling and I end up with 3 award trips to Toronto/Montreal (at 15k miles).

I need to go up to Toronto soon to pick up my CANPASS. I just hope I didn’t screw up and send it to Vancouver instead of Toronto.

Bloggery

So I added that navbar at the top. I figure that it’s a good way for me to remember what I’ve posted and for the handful of readers to search through. It also has a “Next Blog” button as a random link. So I spent 10 minutes flipping through and I found all the blogs hurtful. Seriously my fucking eyes hurt so much that they started to bleed. The two that didn’t suck:

Infrequent Diatribes. At least he can form coherent sentences.

A blog about sport in Iraq.
