To Transsiberian or not to Transsiberian?

As some of you know, I’m taking more or less the entire month of March off to do the Transsiberian railway, with stops in Moscow, Irkutsk, Ulanbataar and Beijing. However, the g-ds of travel are not with me on this one, and I’m thinking about scrubbing the adventure altogether in lieu of something else as equally crazy.

Part of it is that I’m trying to reign in my crackwhore-like spending on trips and eventually grow up and become a responsible adult who saves money. But then I get sidetracked and eventually want to buy new camera stuff or go somewhere exotic.

Thoughts? Should I just tough it out and prepare for 3 weeks of solo fun?

The Worst Part

When you run out of things to say that have meaning, the blog is useless. Most of what I’m thinking and feeling are blurbs as of late as I try to put some sense into things. The world’s an uncertain place and it’s hard to prepare for the unknown. It’s not just that my thoughts are about the events in Mumbai or any other place that might erupt into chaos, it’s about local events as well – and how I can make some understanding out of the turmoil.

I guess I’m just hitting that point in my life where I feel that the older I get, the less I know. That process of self-discovery that I felt on trips and adventures is slowly dwindling away. The sea inside of me just rages on with no purpose.
